Hughes: “The UFC will have to put in two guys at once to beat Brock”
It was clear for all to see that, despite brief moments of promise, Frank Mir was well and truly overwhelmed by Brock Lesnar at UFC 100 on Saturday night. It’s hard to think of any heavyweight that wouldn’t have the same problem, well Matt Hughes has the solution.
Writing in the blog on his website Matt-Hughes.com, Hughes breaks the fight down and offers his opinion of a suitable opponent for Lesnar.
“After I watched the weigh-ins, I knew Frank Mir was going to have some problems. It looks as though he cut weight and tried to get as fit as he could. I think that he didn’t have the strength to even compete with Brock. Brock is a good friend of mine, I’m glad to see him win and a lot of people don’t realize that he is a very intense person. He did go a little over the top after the fight, but I found some of his comments amusing.”
“Brock’s a good guy, he just got caught up in the heat of the moment. Like everyone he will get beat, but right now it seems like the UFC will have to put in two guys at once to beat him.”
Lesnar’s next opponent is expected to be the winner of the UFC 102 match up between Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Randy may have an advantage over Lesnar being that he has fought him once before, but that didn’t seem to help Mir much.
